The clasp is stamped 4/71 (fourth quarter 1971). The present example has hardly any signs of wear. These bracelets are super rare and sought after. The watch is accompanied by a vintage Gay-Fréres stainless steel bracelet. The caliber 3019 PHC operates flawlessly and keeps precisely time. The El Primero movement is one of the first automatic chronograph movements in the world. The sub-dial with small seconds is at 9 o'clock and the date with quickset between 4 and 5 o'clock. The chronograph has a red central hand, a 30-minute counter and a 12-hour totalizer. The original tritium lume in the hour markers and hands developed a beautiful and honest patina. The breathtaking tri-color dial is absolutely clean and without any flaws. The original winding crown bears the NATO star as well. On the case back you can see the deeply engraved serial number and the NATO star. The stainless steel case has a full profile and only little wear. Here you can see a MK3 version of the reference A386, which has been preserved in fantastic overall condition. Even fewer have survived in good condition to this day, which is why the El Primero A386 is one of the most sought-after vintage watches. The rarity of the present model is obvious: between 19 only 2500 examples were produced. This cult watch is without a doubt one of the most important chronographs of the twentieth century.
